YOU ASKED, WE ANSWERED!

ARE YOUR PERFORMERS PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED?

Yes! All of our actors are professionally trained performers who are highly skilled, extremely talented and focused on presenting the highest possible quality incursion for teachers and students. Every actor working with The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company also holds a full current Victorian Working With Children’s Check and is up to date with all current COVID-19 vaccinations.

WHEN ARE YOU AVAILABLE TO COME TO OUR SCHOOL?

The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company offers incursions throughout the whole school year. Just get in touch!

WHERE DO YOU TRAVEL?

We travel and perform all across Australia, in theatres, classrooms, libraries and wherever we can fit, so no school goes without an opportunity to experience our incursions.

ARE YOUR PERFORMANCES FLEXIBLE IN ORDER TO ALIGN WITH OUR INDIVIDUAL SCHOOL VALUES?

All our performances are written and performed specifically with students in mind and are all age appropriate. That being said, if you have concerns or questions at all, get in touch! We’re happy to meet any needs your school may have and our performances can be amended to align with your school’s needs and values.

DO YOU CHARGE A TRAVEL FEE FOR REGIONAL SHOWS?

Absolutely not. We believe every school should have access to Shakespeare’s works, no matter where you’re located. For this reason we have no additional travel fees for regional schools.

HOW DO YOUR FEES WORK?

Our Shakespeare Without Tears incursions have a fee of $9.75 per student, with a minimum fee of $975.00 (1 - 100 students) per performance. This fee applies to each individual performance, and you are not able to combine multiple performances under one fee. This fee also includes GST and there are no additional or hidden costs on top of this.

WE ARE A SMALL SCHOOL, CAN WE INVITE ANOTHER SCHOOL TO JOIN US FOR THE PERFORMANCE?

Absolutely! We happily welcome schools that invite other schools to join them for an incursion. In these cases, the per-student and minimum fees remain the same. Just be aware though that invoices are not able to be split between schools and only the initial booking school will be invoiced.

DO WE NEED A THEATRE SPACE TO BOOK YOU FOR A PERFORMANCE?

Not at all. Our Shakespeare Without Tears incursions have been designed with all aspects considered. We know that often a theatre or gym space may not be available on the day, so we make sure our shows are very malleable and can fit into almost any area that you have available. For our performance area, a space of approximately 4 x 4 meters is a rough idea of the minimum performance area needed. Plus as much space as is needed to seat the audience. The only restriction we have is that our performance must take place indoors and it cannot take place in front of an in-use doorway or walkway.

WHAT DO WE NEED TO PROVIDE?

The performance area and the audience. We’ll take care of the rest. We like to perform in the traditional Shakespearian style, and we use no electronics, mics or additional lighting in our shows.

DO YOU HAVE PUBLIC LIABILITY INSURANCE?

Yes we do. We have full public liability and a copy of our certificate of currency is available upon request.

DO YOUR ACTORS HAVE WORKING WITH CHILDREN CHECKS (WWCC'S)?

Absolutely, all of our actors have current WWCC’s and cary them on them at all times. We also have digital copies that can be emailed through in advance if required.

CAN WE FILM THE INCURSION FOR LATER REFERENCE?

Unfortunately not. For copyright and privacy reasons we do not allow any part or our performances to be filmed or recorded in any way. We do, however, heartily encourage still photography from staff throughout the show.

If you have a student photographer you are planning to have take photos on the day, please notify us in advance.

WHAT IS YOUR CANCELLATION POLICY?

All shows require a deposit to be paid to confirm a booking. These deposits are non-refundable under most circumstances, however, shows are able to be rescheduled and deposits carried over. If a show is cancelled with more than 2 weeks' notice, only the deposit is payable. If a show is cancelled with less than 2 weeks' notice then the full fee is payable. That being said, we do aim to provide some certainty in these uncertain times; if a performance needs to be rescheduled or cancelled due to COVID-19 there are no cancellation fees.

DO YOU HAVE A COVID SAFE PLAN?

All of our staff are fully vaccinated and we have a comprehensive Covid safe available to be provided on request.
