SHAKESPEARE'S MOST FAMOUS CHARACTERS AND MOST PROFOUND STORIES BROUGHT TO LIFE ON STAGE...
“No legacy is so rich and honest.” And teachers and students alike can understand it all.
We know that approaching Shakespeare's works for the first time can be a daunting task. The language is unfamiliar, the references sometimes obscure and the stories themselves can be downright confusing.
What do the witches mean when they say, "of no woman born"? Did Shakespeare really invent the phrases “Wild goose chase” and “In a pickle”? Wait, did that sentence say “pursued by a BEAR”!?!
We help uncover the answers to all of these questions and more as we introduce children of all ages to Shakespeare’s language and themes. As advocates of learning, education, history and creative practice, our theatre professionals present dynamic and engaging 60-minute performances that help positively impact the way students experience Shakespeare, approach reading and see the world around them.
DECADES OF SHAKESPEAREAN EXPLORATION, EXPERTISE AND EXCITEMENT.
For over 45 years The Flying Bookworm Theatre Company has been offering theatrical incursions that explore, analyse and reinvent Shakespeare's works, both his plays and sonnets, through live performance, in order to break them down to their clearest, most relatable form. While we never lose the poetry and beauty of his words and language, we do make them easier to understand.
'Intro to Shakespeare' puts our years of knowledge, experience and passion for the Bard to use through the creative, educational and imaginative ways we present scenes, language and text from some of Shakespeare's most brilliant plays and most moving sonnets. Gain a greater understanding of Shakespeare himself, his characters, his works and how powerfully they still resonate in today’s modern society.
In our live, theatrical school incursion program, Romeo and Juliet, Macbeth, Much Ado About Nothing, Hamlet, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Othello and Henry V along with some of Shakespeare’s most memorable sonnets are all performed and explored while being vibrantly, accessibly and joyfully brought to life for students all across Australia.
It’s never too early or too late to fall in love with Shakespeare’s classics!

"Amazing performance of Shakespeare Without Tears... we would love to rebook it again for next year!"
